Community Behavioral Health and Accountable Care: Six Months into MassHealth’s Redesign, What We Know and What We Have Yet to Learn

This session will review changes in the delivery of community behavioral healthcare implemented through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ 1115 Medicaid waiver. MassHealth unveiled its new system of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and Community Partners (CPs) on March 1, 2018. This redesign has prioritized community behavioral healthcare and organizations that provide behavioral health services with the goal of better integrating primary and behavioral healthcare.

Attendees will learn about the following:

  • The role of Behavioral Health Community Partners (BH CPs) in improving care coordination
  • What new services have been created or expanded to confront the opioid epidemic
  • How MassHealth is leveraging federal fund to expand treatment options for individuals diagnosed with both a mental health and addiction disorder
  • How MassHealth and the Department of Mental Health have teamed up to provide more integrated care for individuals living with a serious mental illness

Presenter: Vic DiGravio, President/CEO, Association for Behavioral Healthcare
