Inpatient Discharges - FY2011
The Consortium's Inpatient Discharge Database contains detailed information about over 800,000 Massachusetts Hospital discharges. Currently, our most recent data is for Fiscal Year 2011 (October 2010 - September 2011). Inpatient Discharge data is collected by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is provided in Microsoft Access format. Previous years are also available, back to FY2000.
The database is comprised of 3 tables: the Discharges, Accommodations and Ancilliaries tables. The Discharge table contains the most typical information about a discharge, such as the patient's age, sex, the hospital id, and their diagnoses, procedures, and DRGs. Accomodations contains more detailed information regarding the type of accommodations that were utilized; while Ancillaries details the other types of services and charges the patient incurred. In addition, each database contains a number of lookup tables for data elements such as Hospitals, Payors, DRGs, and ICD9 Codes.
