Speaker, Joe Frassica, MD, Chief Medical Informatics and Technology Officer
In order to meet healthcare’s Triple Aim – to improve health, improve care, and reduce costs – physicians and other care providers must have actionable guidance informed by rigorous analysis of large health data sets.
Through the Bioengineering Research Partnership with MIT and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Philips Healthcare developed the MIMIC II database, combining information from the hospital’s ICU information systems, hospital archives, and other data sources.
Using MIMIC II and the Philips’s eResearch Institute database Philips Healthcare developed a robust, algorithm to predict when an ICU patient is more likely to require an intervention for acute hypotension.
Working with the Mayo Clinic through a CMS Innovation Grant, Philips developed a patient-centered, cloud-based clinical decision support (CDS) solution for the ICU through which Mayo clinical knowledge and algorithms were delivered directly to clinicians on their mobile devices and at the bedside.
Please join Joe Frassica, MD, Philips Healthcare’s Chief Medical Informatics and Technology Officer to learn more about these innovations and their impact on health care cost, quality, and effectiveness.
