Using Malpractice Data to Raise Risk Intelligence

CRICO-RMF.gif

CRICO/RMF has been the medical malpractice company owned by and serving the Harvard medical community since 1976. Our data-driven approach to claims management and patient safety is the outcome of years of service to our members and our national base of clients affiliated with RMF Strategies.

The foundation of our risk intelligence service is a proprietary clinical coding taxonomy that captures clinical elements embedded in professional liability cases and allows for detailed data analysis. These data elements are analyzed in our Comprehensive Risk Intelligence Tool (CRIT), which was deployed in early 2010 and enables us to efficiently mine our data for specific questions and overall trends.

The insight gained through the use of this tool and our taxonomy, provides clear evidence to drive patient safety initiatives in several clinical dimensions such as surgery, obstetrics, and diagnostic failure.
